Fingerprint analysis

Each fingerprint is individual and no two fingerprints have ever been found to be the same; even identical twins will have different fingerprints. Each fingerprint contains patterns that allow them to be classified and distinguished from each other, they are used to identify an unknown victim, witness, or suspect, to verify records, and most importantly as links between a suspect and a crime.

Fingerprints can be left on a huge range of objects and surfaces, including snow and mud under certain circumstances, and if left in the right conditions they can remain there for years.
